Multipro Indian Style Ghodiyu Baby Sleep Swing Cradle - Product Review

When my wife's due date was near, we knew it'll be tough handling twins especially when it comes to make newborns sleep. A very thought of it gave us nightmares. As we were staying nuclear, we had no support or external help from either side of our families. So we started looking out for options that can help us ease the pressure of handling twins.

We started searching for a good quality swing / cradle for our twins. We were convinced that a cradle is a Must Buy if parents wants their babies to sleep peacefully. We came across many options (wooden, plastic, hanging swings etc.) and after a thorough research and study, zeroed it down on "
Multipro Indian Style Ghodiyu Born Baby Sleep Swing Cradle, Pink" available on Amazon.

So in this post, i will review this Multipro swing (cradle) available on Amazon and discuss its pros and cons.

Review:

About the Product:

This product is sold by Multipro seller on Amazon. It's an Amazon fulfilled product.

It comes with a 1 year warranty from seller.

Multipro as a seller takes very good care of their customers. If you have an issue, they are very prompt to help you out. They are very supportive and even ready to replace the damaged part as long as the product is within warranty.

Because i had twins, so i bought 2 swings. One of the swing had an issue (issue mentioned below "Cons" section). So i registered a complaint through Amazon (Contact Seller). Multipro was quick to call back and helped me to resolve the issue at the earliest.

About Canopy: The canopy comes with a string attached to it which makes it easy for parents to swing the cradle back and forth. But the string is not long enough to give swing from a distance. So i extended the string by connecting it to another string.

Discounts:

Because i bought 2 swings, i asked the seller for the discount. They were very prompt in giving me a good discount. They gave cashback in my Amazon account.

Multipro also give discount if you write a Review of their product on Amazon's product details page and give them a feedback.

Pros:

- Easy to assemble and dis-assemble.
- No technical know how or tools required to install / de-install it
- Light weight, easy to carry
- Can hold upto 20 kgs baby weight and 35 inch (88 cm) is baby height limit
- Portable. It comes in a bag (case). So users can easily pack it and carry while travelling.
- Firm Stainless Steel pipe frames are corrosion resistant and rust free.
- Very Sturdy swing
- Cotton Canopy comes with a net to protect babies from insects and mosquitoes
- Entire swing once assembled, holds the baby in canopy real well.
- Baby doze off quickly in the swing after a while swinging back and forth
- Joints are fitted firmly and supports the baby in cradle.

Cons:

- The pink connector has a knob to tighten. Over a period of use, the connectors needs to be tightened once to make sure the cradle holds well and firm.
- Baby has a curved posture in this swing.
- Slightly over priced. I bought this for Rs. 3590 from Amazon
- When you swing the cradle back and forth, air moves inside the canopy and right on baby's face and body with pressure. This makes the baby sneeze.
- If you happen to rock the swing, there are high chances of it to topple as the rubber pads come off the floor very easily
- Sometimes the cradle makes a clinking noise when the hangers rub against the hooks while swinging. I tied a piece of cloth between the hook and hanger to overcome this noise issue.
- Do not swing on wet floor because the cradle skids a lot and wet floor damages the rubber pads by reducing friction.
- The cradle skids a lot as you swing baby weighing above 8 kgs. Solution: I put the cradle on yoga mat and put weights on the mat to avoid slippage.
- Although it does not have sharp edges, but parents be very careful while setting up the swing especially in unfolding the side frames. My wife happened to lock her right hand's index finger inside it.

Issue faced

In my second swing, the rubber pads lost friction. As a result, the swing would just skid on the floor while moving the canopy back and forth. So i asked the seller to replace the pads and they responded by sending new rubber pads for both the swings. This exchange was free as the product was under warranty.

Final Word:

Overall it's an awesome product and a life saver for parents. This can be used for a newborn baby until he / she exceeds the weight / height limit. I have been using it for 7 months now without any issues. This multipro swing is the reason my babies are able to sleep peacefully with a smile on their face.

Recommendation:

Value for Money. An excellent product from Multipro. A must buy for every new parent.

Rating : 5/5

Colic, Constipation Issue in Babies - Remedies (Home Tried)

Colic and Constipation are two most common issues in babies. A very thought of it gives parents a nightmare. I and my wife were no way different to be spared from it.

The cycle of trouble began for us and our babies soon after the birth. As we stay in a nuclear family, we had no clue whatsoever how to tackle these problems. The only possible option was to follow our pediatrician's advice religiously. But we soon lost faith in his advise as it wasn't helping the twins. We were unable to stand their abdominal pain and their frequent crying.

Big disadvantage of staying nuclear is you do not get wise suggestions from experienced people / seniors.to handle such issues. So, we decided to do our own study and find what works best for the twins. The days of struggle had just begun for us and the twins.

We tried various options (home remedies and otherwise) to get rid of Colic, Constipation issues. Here are the few options we tried with their effects, outcomes:

Colimax Drops:

Pediatrician cautioned us the day our twins born that the babies might suffer from colic if they'll be mostly (exclusively) formula fed. He advised us to burp the babies after every feed and incase of colic pain, give colimax drops. Giving burp to few days old baby was out of option in our case. We were hell scared to do that. So we decided to give few drops of colimax as and when baby felt colicky. Few days passed by and there were no signs of improvement. When we checked with doc again, he asked us not to worry much because colic issues are there in less than 3 months old babies and asked to keep giving colimax drops when required. But we were not able to stand their pain. He suggested us to change the feeding bottles and use anti-colic bottles.

Philips Avent to Dr. Brown's Bottles:

We started with Philips Avent feeding bottles. We had no clue that a bottle might cause colic till our pediatrician told us. We realised Philips Avent bottles are not anti colic so we immediately moved to Dr. brown's bottles. I must admit it was a wise decision taken. Dr. Brown's bottles reduced colic but not removed it completely.

Checkout the comparison between Philips Avent & Dr. Brown's bottles by clicking this link here.

Similar Posts:

Formula feeds:

We tried various brands formula feeds but only Similac suited our babies. Rest of the brands ff aggravated colic and constipation issues. Please note, each baby is different in accepting different brands of ff.

Colimax Df Drops:

Bottles were effective to reduce colic but the twins were still in pain. Another Pediatrician recommended to use "Colimax Df" instead of Colimax as Df contains fennel oil which is herbal. He showed us how to burp the baby but we were still not comfortable burping the twins. So with no burping and new Colimax Df, we barely saw any improvement.

Gripe Water:

Our maid recommended us to give Gripe Water. It's Ayurvedic with no side effects. It can be mixed in feed and given.

Our Pediatrician was Okay in giving gripe water. Gripe water helped to solve constipation issues but not the colic. But this was a temporary solution to resolve constipation problems. The moment we stopped giving it, constipation was back. So we did not want to create dependency of it so we completely stopped it.

Dabur Janamguti:

We now were giving Dabur Janamguti to alleviate colic issues. We stopped it after few days knowing that it contains honey which causes botulism in newborn babies.

Santulan Balgutti:

This is an Ayurvedic product. We have been giving this till date with no issues. Although it did not resolve the colic / constipation issues but this is good product considering the long term benefits it has in improving the immune system.

Hing powder (asafoetida):

We applied hiing powder (mixed in water) around baby's belly. This really helped in removing gases and reduced colic.

Water soaked Raisins:

We soaked raisins in water overnight and next day fed the extract of it to twins. This was a very effective solution in eradicating constipation problems.

Duphalac:

Our Pediatrician recommended us to use Duphalac Syrup. We tried it only once on 1 of the twins. Effect - Baby had a running stomach throughout the day. We were so scared that we stopped it immediately. This is only used by adults and not to be given to newborns.

Corn Syrup:

This product is good in a way that it softens the stool although it do not resolve the constipation issues. We mixed it in baby feed.

So these are the various options we tried to resolve colic and constipation issues.

P.S: Please do not consider this post as a recommendation of any one or all the options. I have written this post based on my experience. Parents must do their own study and speak to their pediatrician before applying any of the solution mentioned here.

Note: I do not support / banish / recommend any of the solutions mentioned here. Every baby has his / her own body system to accept / reject solutions. Please ask your doctor first before implementing any option on your babies. Take Care

How To Clean (Wash) Feeding Bottles ?

If you have recently bought feeding bottles and has no idea how to clean them post feeding, please continue to read this post.
Or if you have been wrongly cleaning the sterilized bottles with a piece of cloth and find the activity too cumbersome and you end up spending most part of the day in kitchen cleaning bottles, please do not move away from this post and continue reading it.

I and my wife had a real tough time cleaning the feeding bottles as we used to first wash it in running water with normal (regular) dish washer that we used for washing our common kitchen utensils. Then, we used to immerse the bottles in hot water (boiled at 100 deg C) - traditional way of sterilizing. Once done, we took out the bottles and let them air dry. And as we had a limited quantity of bottles, in rush hour, we would generally clean the steam soaked bottles with a piece of cloth. Side affect - cloth's threads would stick to bottles not only from outside but inside as well. And the same thread particles would become part of the feed when formula is mixed with water in the bottle. Scary isn't it, cloth dust in your baby's feed would eventually end up in baby's tummy. So to avoid all this, we decided to change the way we used to wash and clean the feeding bottles.

What we did:

1. Bought Pigeon's Liquid Cleanser:
- Please avoid using the regular dish washer for cleaning the feeding bottles.
- Use Pigeon's or any good brand's liquid cleanser to clean the bottles.
- Keep this cleanser exclusively for cleaning feeding bottles only. Do not use it for cleaning other utensils.
- Dilute the liquid cleanser and then wash the bottles with it

2. Used Regular Drinking water to clean bottles
- Make sure your regular drinking water is not too hard
- Do not use bore-well water to clean the bottles

3. Used Bottle brush to clean bottles instead of cleaning with hands under running water
- Better use a brush to clean the bottles than cleaning it by hands
- Biggest advantage of using the brush: it makes cleaning super easy and cleans the most difficult areas of the bottles.
- if you are using or planning to buy Dr. Brown's bottle brush for cleaning the bottles, please note that the end part of the is to be used for cleaning the bottle teats.

4. Used Electric Steam Sterilizer from Philips to sterilize the bottles
- Biggest advantage: Saves lot of water
- Other big advantage: Bottles are 99% germs free
- Read Philips Sterilizer Product Review here.

5. Once Sterilized, let it air dry to remove the steam from the bottles and accessories
- Do not use cloth piece to clean the bottles from inside. This will result in leaving cloth particles behind which will enter baby's feed while making the feed.
- You can microwave the bottles for few seconds. Please make sure you do not microwave it for more than a minute as bottles may melt.

6. Once dried, bottles washed / sterilized / cleaned are good enough to be used again for feeding the baby.

Philips Avent 3-in-1 Electric Steam Sterilizer - Product Review

This is a "Philips Avent 3-in-1 Electric Steam Sterilizer" product review post. In this post, i will discuss the benefits of it, why it's a must buy item and its drawbacks.

Note: Parents who are using either Philips Avent or Dr. brown's or any other brand's feeding bottles should continue to read this post as this sterilizer works for almost all types of feeding bottles.

We have been using this product for cleaning both Dr. brown's and Philips Avent bottles without any size fitting issues. Dr. brown's bottles fit into this (in tilted position) easily. So it is suitable for both wide / narrow neck bottles. it can fit in bottles having max. capacity of 330 ml.

Why buy: I and my wife, earlier were having lot many issues while washing the bottles. We used to boil water first in a bowl and then immerse washed bottles inside it to sterilize them. This was not only time consuming activity but we were always worried what if the bottles melt in such hot water. The other issue we faced was lot of water wastage because of this bottle cleaning activity. So we started studying online for an alternative, an easier way for bottle sterilization. We came across the Philips sterilizer. Without any second thoughts, we immediately purchased it from Amazon.

Result: We are more than happy now for the decision made. It not only saved time but also reduced lot of water wastage.

Ups:
- It is BPA free sterilizer.
- it does cleaning, washing and sterilizing all in one steam wash. So it's called a 3 in 1 sterilizer.
- it does not occupy much space.
- its easy to use
- Aesthetically designed
- Multi colored

Main Advantages:
- It kills 99% of bacteria in one steam wash.
- It can be used to clean any brand's bottles upto 330 ml capacity.
- it's quick, convenient to use, requires no technical knowledge to install and use.
- Bottles cleaned are free from dust particles, powder particles and cloth threads (if any).
- Saves a lot of water as it consumes only 30-40 ml of water in one steam wash to clean a set of 3-4 bottles.
- Does sterilization in roughly 6-7 minutes. it automatically shuts off once sterilization is done.
- Saves lot of time especially for working parents.
- Takes minimal space in kitchen
- it comes with a 2 year Warranty from Philips
- it works on 220V power and its electricity consumption is also low.

Drawbacks:
- The metal plate (heating element) on which the water is poured, corrodes easily and frequently after every sterilization. You need to regularly wash and clean the plate with vinegar (kept overnight) to remove the scaling. We've been washing it frequently after every 3-4 times of usage. But it also depends on the water quality that is used to steam the bottles. If the water's too hard, the corrosion takes place faster.
- it does not work on inverter power.

Usage:
1. After washing the bottles, insert bottles in upside down position in 2 chambers of the sterilizer along with bottle parts.
2. Add 30-40 ml of water on the metal plate of sterilizer. Please make sure water is of good quality and not too hard. Prefer using water from the purifier.
3. Place the chambers on the lower body of the sterilizer.
4. Cover the top chamber with the lid.
5. Switch on the machine and let it steam wash the bottle. Will take around 5-6 minutes to complete 3-in-1 washing.

Caution:
- Please keep it away from young children.
- Do not immediately open the top lid once the machine is automatically cut-off. The steam inside it effuses so fast that it may burn your hand. Wait for machine to cool down and then open it.

Dr. Brown's v/s Philips Avent Bottles for Baby Feeding - Which is better ?

In this post, i will discuss the experience i and my wife had of using two of the very popular formula feeding bottles from reputed companies such as Dr. brown's and Philips. I will also discuss the differences between the two and which is better in long run especially for babies exclusively formula fed or otherwise.

We were blessed with Twins in May 2016. Our pediatrician suggested us to use formula feed for covering up milk intake for the twins. Living in a nuclear family, we had no idea of formula feeding babies as to how it's done, what kind of bottles are needed, how frequently feed is to be given etc. etc. Thousands of questions popped up in no time. The only place where we could find answers to all the questions was "Google". We started searching online and based on most popular products that works best for the babies with no compromise to quality and our well researched products, we came up with 2 names - Philips Avent & Dr. Brown's bottles.

Because Philips as a company is quite common name among households, we were a bit biased in our chose for buying the feeding bottles. And plus, they were comparatively cheap when compared with Dr. Brown's bottles. The other reason was the cute ergonomic design of the bottles. We thought this must be super easy to handle and carry. We immediately bought a set of 4 bottles of Philips Avent from Amazon.

We were very sure that this product coming from an awesome company like "Philips" must be well researched and just right for the newborn and few months old babies. So once the package arrived, we could not help but thanks Philips for making this product and Amazon for delivering it in no time.

Let me write down few very good points about Philips Avent bottles that makes it a must buy:

- Its BPA free. Now, BPA is bisphenol A. In short, it's a chemical substance that has tendency to seep into food and water through the containers and thus cause health issues. So one should always go for BPA free bottles / containers / sippers etc.

- It's made up of polypropylene. A chemical substance which has good resistance to electricity and good impact strength.

- The soft and flexible teat makes it easy for baby to drink the formula feed without any issues. Bottle teat is designed in such a manner that it's very similar to breastfeeding.

- Measurement marking is in both Oz and ml.

- it's easy to handle thanks to its ergonomic design.

- Overall, it's a high quality product made in UK.

- it's portable and can be easily carried in bags as it has a lid tight cap.

After feeding our twins using Philips bottles for nearly 1.5 months, we started seeing babies suffer from colic issues. The little ones had tough time having burps and the colic just won't stop. I called our pediatrician to know the main reason behind colic. He mentioned there could be n number of possibilities but the ones that tops the list our - formula feed and the feeding bottles.

First, we decided to change the powder. We jumped from Similac to Enfomil to few other products like NanPro but soon were back to Similac as that was the only powder suited out babies.

So now we decided to change the feeding bottles. We further studied online to know that although Philips claim their bottles to be anti-colic but the bottles are not able to prevent it. Checked online and read other parents views to know that these bottles does create colic issues. Most of them recommended and switched to Dr. Brown's bottles. We decided to do the same.

I ordered a pack of Dr. brown's bottles. It took some time for product to deliver but once received, we felt happy.

So now the Philips bottles were replaced by Dr. brown's bottles. I ordered a pack for my twins. it had 5 bottles - 3 small and 2 big. 3 small bottles can hold upto 120 ml of water mixed feed and 2 bigger bottles can hold upto 250 ml.

We started feeding the twins through these bottles and our babies had no issues switching from one to the other. The Turnaround story - No more colic issues. Dr. Brown's bottles thus proved effective in handling colic issues. The company rightly claims it to be anti colic and works best in favor of babies formula feeding.

It's been 6 months now, babies have accepted Dr. Brown's bottles with a smile on their face. Dr. Brown's bottles worked like Magic.

So, here are few advantages of using Dr. brown's bottles:

- Reduces colic, spit-up, burping and gas issues

- Teat is designed in such a manner that babies feel as if they are being breastfed.

- it's portable and can be easily carried in bags as it has a lid tight cap.

- it is BPA, PVC, lead, phthalate free

- it has a vent system that removes air from milk and thus preserving all the necessary vitamins of formula feed. So no oxidation takes place, else all the important vitamins are lost.

Dr. Brown's bottles are costly when compared with Philips Avent but it's a onetime investment that will surely save babies from colic issues while formula feeding them. I was so very happy with the experience that we had with brown bottles, that i ordered another pack of 5 bottles and 2 additional pink bottles.

So, I personally recommend Dr. Brown's bottles over Avent bottles to all the parents who plan to formula feed their babies and do not want to see their little ones in pain because of colic or burp issues.

Please note, there are 2 types of bottles available in Dr. brown's - blue and pink color.

Apart from pink bottles made in China, there's big difference interms of bottle quality. Pink bottles is a replica of blue bottles. One can question the quality of the product after using the pink bottle few times.

Blue bottles are made in USA and are of better quality over pink bottles. The other main disadvantage in pink bottles is - that the measurement markings are so not visible on the bottles. Markings are not done by blue / pink ink but are engraved on the bottle which makes it very difficult to read the water level especially during nights.

I hope you found this post useful. Do let me know your experience of using these or any other feeding bottles. Looking forward to your comments.
